Modernize your home with retrofitted roller shutters

Built-in roller shutters are integrated into the wall or lintel box and then plastered over. When open, they disappear completely into the curtain wall and are not visible from the outside - a visual advantage, especially in new buildings.

However, built-in roller shutters are only suitable for retrofitting if there is already a corresponding cavity in the window lintel. They must also be insulated to avoid heat bridges and optimize soundproofing. The advantage is that the inspection opening is located in the interior, so that maintenance and access to the mechanism, curtain and hinges are easily possible if required.

Top-mounted roller shutters are installed together with new windows - either integrated directly into the window frame or attached to the frame. They are also invisible from the outside after installation and offer good thermal and noise insulation.

Retrofitting is only possible here if the windows are being replaced anyway. The disadvantage: top-mounted roller shutters slightly reduce the window opening so that less daylight enters the room when the venetian blinds are fully raised.

Front-mounted roller shutters are installed on the exterior of the curtain wall or in the lintel reveal. This means they can be retrofitted to existing windows without any problems, even if there is no roller shutter box in the wall. They are particularly suitable for old buildings to increase burglary protection or improve insulation.

As with the top-mounted roller shutter, the inspection opening is located on the underside. Visually, the roller shutter box is visible, but can be individually designed - for example with plaster, clinker or color - and thus become a design element of the curtain wall.
