Forward-looking system solutions for building shells

Verl, April 2023. heroal presented itself at BAU 2023 with new, forward-looking developments for residential and commercial buildings as well as powerful services. In Munich, the company showcased new solutions for efficient planning and building that combine architectural design freedom with maximum functionality and processing efficiency. Coordinated systems, a unique range of services and a focus on six key future topics of modern construction underline heroal’s position as a leading supplier of system solutions for building shells.

Processing efficiency and productivity

To enable fabricators to produce heroal systems even more efficiently in the future and to effectively counter the increasing shortage of skilled workers, heroal has expanded its portfolio to include solutions that are particularly quick and easy to process. For the first time at BAU, heroal presented the innovative heroal WF EM window hardware system. This system’s key advantage is its particularly simple and time-saving installation, allowing it to make production processes even more economical. heroal WF EM combines maximum functionality with a wide range of design options and slim view widths with burglary resistance up to RC 3. Regular live demonstrations gave visitors to the trade fair stand the chance to see the processing advantages of the new fittings system for themselves, as well as the heroal VS Z EM clamp-on sun protection system and the heroal D 72 PF EM door casement profile. At the trade fair, the heroal D 72 PF EM was awarded the BAU Innovation Award. As further highlights, heroal displayed new solutions for fabricators in the field of roller shutters and sun protection, which are available both as a system and in the heroal Ready range, which boasts a high degree of prefabrication.

Another focal point at BAU was the simple, process-optimised planning and production of heroal system solutions. Consistently designed to simplify and reduce work steps, heroal offers various digital solutions that contribute to the fast, reliable processing of orders. With a new range of consulting services for production and process optimisation presented at the trade fair for the first time, heroal also offers fabricators custom-tailored solutions to make use of potential optimisations in order processing, manufacturing and logistics.

Connectivity & comfort

Digitalisation is permeating all areas of life. System solutions from heroal can be flexibly integrated into building automation to make the working and living spaces of tomorrow comfortable, freely accessible and intelligent. Designed as smart home solutions, heroal Connect RS allows the convenient, location-independent control of electric roller shutters and sun protection products via app or voice assistant. One of the ways that heroal is addressing the issue of smart commercial buildings is through the development of a new, integrative solution for building control to be pursued in the scope of cooperation agreement with Beckhoff Automation, which is currently being finalised. This cooperation is intended to increase the smartification of all components of a curtain wall, of which heroal roller shutter and sun protection systems are essential. Also integrated into the system at BAU was the innovative heroal W 72 VF ventilation flap. The delicately designed, motor-driven flap supports architects and planners in the implementation of controlled, natural ventilation concepts.

Moreover, heroal’s barrier-free system solutions stand for maximum comfort. As a high-quality solution for sophisticated residential and commercial buildings, the heroal S 77 SL sliding door system set the tone at the trade fair stand for the design of rooms with a high quality of life. Maximum ease of use is offered through combination with the heroal SF Drive drive system fully integrated into the profiles, allowing particularly convenient and virtually silent operation at the press of a button or by smartphone.

Design

In order to make living and working spaces more liveable and cityscapes more attractive, modern residential and commercial buildings today must not only meet all the requirements for sustainability, security and comfort, but must also satisfy the highest architectural and design demands. For this reason, heroal’s trade fair exhibition also focused on the design and the architectural possibilities afforded by the system portfolio.
With its industry-leading surface and design selection of more than 500 RAL and DB colours in various levels of gloss, surface looks in wood, concrete or rust (heroal SD), as well as the exclusive Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier colours, heroal offers a very wide range of design options for fabricators, architects and planners.
The technically optimally coordinated system portfolio for residential and commercial buildings also opens up a high degree of architectural and design freedom while at the same time fulfilling a wide range of functional requirements for building shells. Among the products heroal presented for commercial buildings was the heroal C 50 curtain wall system in combination with the heroal D 72 commercial door, the heroal W 77 i block window and a partially integrated heroal VS Z sun protection system. Realised as a generous lifting-sliding element with an opening casement corner, heroal also presented the heroal S 77 SL lifting-sliding door system at the trade fair stand in connection with the heroal VS Z corner solution, an innovative zip-screen system for corner areas that offers efficient glare, privacy and heat protection with just a single cable guide and enables the two curtains to be controlled separately.

Safety and security

To demonstrate the possibility of a second escape route, heroal presented a battery-backed emergency power control system that allows roller shutters and sun protection to be opened even in the event of a power failure. Also on display at BAU was the heroal FireXtech D 93 FP fire protection door system, which combines modular construction and time-saving processing with maximum fire resistance.

With their outstanding burglary protection, the heroal roller shutter systems made of aluminium and stainless steel also meet the highest requirements for security. Used in combination with heroal windows, they offer maximum reliability and security up to resistance class RC 4.

Sustainability

heroal has a range of durable and recyclable system solutions with high heat insulation to support architects and fabricators in meeting the highest sustainability standards. Furthermore, heroal is committed as a company to ensuring a sustainable future. The topic of sustainability therefore lies at the heart of all the Cradle to Cradle®-certified system solutions for heroal window, door and curtain wall systems and is also reflected in the extensive range of services and the company profile. The focus at the trade fair was on the heroal W77 window system, which has been certified as suitable for passive houses, in connection with the heroal VS Z textile sun protection system, which offers a complete solution for maximum protection against cold and heat that is optimally coordinated in terms of construction and visual design. The topics of sustainability and healthy living were brought into line with such aspects as excellent thermal insulation values, state-of-the-art ventilation concepts and achieving maximum daylight and transparency.
