Sustainable products

Low carbon aluminum

In order to support requirements for construction projects with the highest sustainability standards such as LEED, DGNB or WELL, heroal relies on aluminum systems with a significantly reduced CO2 footprint. Both CO2-reduced and recycled aluminum are used. Architects, planners and tradesmen benefit from tailor-made system solutions that help to minimize emissions as early as the construction phase. The recycled content and all CO2 values are shown transparently - as are all production steps within the value chain.

We rely on recyclable aluminum

Our aluminum systems are consistently geared towards reusability and environmental compatibility. The Cradle to Cradle Certified® certification confirms that our products are developed in a circular way according to strict criteria and manufactured using environmentally safe materials. Our systems have a positive impact on the environment and society along the entire value chain - transparently and comprehensibly. Together with partners from planning, architecture, processing and construction, we create measurable contributions to sustainable construction and actively support the United Nations' climate protection goals.

We rely on recyclable aluminum

As an active member of A|U|F, we promote the closed recycling loop for aluminum, in which scrap metal is reprocessed into high-quality profiles. In doing so, we pay attention to efficient return routes and resource-conserving recycling. Unlike many other materials, aluminum does not lose quality during recycling - it remains completely reusable. That is why we specifically use recycled aluminum for our systems. Even after use, heroal products can be easily returned to the material cycle - for a genuine circular economy without any loss of quality.

Sustainable supply chain

Sustainable right from the start

The careful use of resources is deeply rooted in heroal's corporate DNA. From the selection of environmentally friendly materials to energy-efficient production processes and climate-conscious logistics - sustainable thinking characterizes our entire value chain. We are continuously working to reduce thecarbon footprint of our systems along the supply chain - both during production and through their decades of use. For decades, we have been relying on regional suppliers and promoting transparency in terms of sustainability standards in partnership. Since 2020, we have been systematically calculating ouroverall carbon footprint and are pursuing the goal of halving it by 2030 compared to 2020.

Building certifications

Our low-maintenance, durable and recyclable systems provide the basis for energy-efficient and economical construction. In order to meet building certification requirements such as DGNB, BNB, LEED or BREEAM, we provide comprehensive environmental product declarations (EPDs). These standardized "profiles" record the environmental impact of our building products in a transparent and comparable manner based on independent tests. The EPDs not only serve as proof of the sustainability of individual components, but also form the basis for the assessment of entire buildings as part of common certification programs. heroal provides EPDs for window, door and façade profiles as well as for roller shutters and external sun protection. In addition, fabricators can use the LogiKal Orgadata software and the heroal EPD tool to create their own project and product-specific EPDs - in compliance with standards and certified by ift Rosenheim.
