Worlds of colour

For harmonious combinations of different systems for the building shell, like window and roller shutters, a sophisticated concept and innovative coating technologies are indispensable. For this purpose, heroal surface coating has been developed. The versatile coating technologies and colour spectrums offer a great freedom of design and surfaces of a highly weather resistant quality. The building shell appears to be cast from the same mould – even if different coating processes were applied: The highly weather resistant heroal hwr powder coatings for extruded profiles have been optimally adapted to the coatings using heroal 2-layer thick coat for roll-formed systems. The design options are further extended by heroal Surface Design (SD) and Eloxal colours (electrolytic oxidation of aluminium).

For decades, heroal has been setting international quality standards for aluminium coating and ensuring compliance with all ecological requirements. With our new vertical powder coating plant, opened in late 2012 in, heroal is making an investment in the future of quality. heroal hwr powder coating meets the most stringent requirements in Qualicoat class 2 and corresponds with GSB master quality. But what does that mean for you? The weathering test proves that heroal hwr powder coating remains colourfast even under extreme conditions.

    For decades, heroal has set international quality standards in the field of aluminium coating. With the best values in terms of colour stability, gloss retention, weather resistance and UV-protection, heroal hwr powder coatings meet the highest demands of Qualicoat’s class 2 and GSB’s master quality (quality seal for piecework coating) – of course, fully complying with all ecological requirements.

    heroal Surface Design (SD)

    With heroal Surface Design, aluminium windows, doors, curtain walls or patio roofs can be created with wood, concrete or rust looks. After having been heroal hwr powder-coated, the profiles are wrapped in a transfer foil with sublimation ink. Extreme heat creates a vacuum, and the ink cures into the powder coating. Then the foil is removed, revealing the high-quality surface look. The bonding of heroal SD and the hwr powder coating underneath is very strong. That way, heroal Surface Design (SD) provides for surfaces of excellent quality.

    heroal 2-layer thick coating

    Thanks to coatings using heroal 2-layer thick coat, roll-formed aluminium parts, like slats for roller shutters and roller doors, are especially colour-intensive and colour-fast, as well as abrasion-proof and weather resistant. The thick coat is applied in a rolling process and then stoved at 240 °C. After the application of a clear coat, the elements are finally roll-formed. This is first class quality. Therefore, the classification society Germanischer Lloyd certified the 2-layer thick coating as suitable for being used on ships.

  • Eloxal process
    Eloxal process

    During the Eloxal process, the electrolytic oxidation of aluminium, direct current turns electrolytes containing oxygen on the aluminium surface into oxygen. The following reaction of the oxygen and the surface creates a build-up of aluminium oxide. The oxide provides for corrosion protection and also prevents the aluminium from further oxidation, while at the same time preserving the metallic appearance of the surface.
