German Innovation Award 2020 for a Sliding Door System

The heroal S 65 impresses thanks to its innovativeness, efficient manufacturing and economy

The heroal S 65 aluminium sliding door system stands out thanks to the especially simple and efficient production and innovative casement construction. Innovative thermal breaks, specially tailored to the sliding door system, make it possible to use large casements, which simultaneously protect against bending (the Bi-metal effect).

The casement profiles are pre-assembled with a labyrinth, which removes the need for a separate attachment and allow for a very narrow central joint with a view width of just 62 mm. Furthermore, the frame surround reduces the complexity of the system and therefore simplifies the production process even further. This means the heroal S 65 sliding door system is especially suitable as an economically attractive solution for use in upscale residential and commercial construction projects.

About the German Innovation Award

Presented by the German Design Council, the annual German Innovation Award recognises products and solutions spanning various business classes, which differentiate themselves from previous solutions thanks to their user focus and added value. The jury, which is made up of independent, interdisciplinary experts from the fields of industry, science, institutions and finance, bestows the award in two competition classes: “Excellence in Business to Consumer” and “Excellence in Business to Business”. Evaluation is based on the following criteria: level of innovation, user benefit and economy.
